About Journexa

I built Journexa because I kept starting journals and stopping. Not because I lacked the desire to reflect, I had plenty of that, but because the blank page was hard, and the apps I tried felt either too basic or too demanding.

What I actually wanted was something closer to a conversation. A space that would ask me the next question when I ran out of words. That could listen to me on a walk, not just when I was sitting at a desk. That could tell me, after weeks of entries, what I kept coming back to without my having to dig through old notes.

That's what Journexa became.

Privacy first, always

One thing I was firm about from the start: Journexa would never require an account. I've used apps where the knowledge that my entries lived in someone else's database changed what I wrote. When you know no one will read it (and truly can't), you write differently. More honestly. That's where the real value lives.

In Journexa, you're identified only by a device UUID stored in encrypted local storage. No email, no name, no login. Your entries are associated with that anonymous ID and nothing else. AI analysis happens on-demand and your content is not retained by the AI provider beyond the request.

What Journexa is for

Journexa is for people who want to think more clearly and feel more understood, by themselves. It's not a therapy app and it's not a replacement for professional mental health care. It's a space for the kind of daily reflection that happens in the gaps: on a commute, before bed, after a difficult conversation.

The guided AI mode is the feature I'm most proud of. You write something, anything, and it asks the next question. Not a generic prompt, but a response to what you actually wrote. It takes you places solo journaling doesn't.
